Sometimes falling asleep at nite, it’s the next day’s to-do list or how I can live the next day better than today that runs thru my mind. On a few occasions tho I have envisioned a runway. A fashion runway. And me sitting there front row. Pieces I can’t recall ever seeing before, like I’ve created them right there in my semi-asleep state. And the dreams go from there with me being able to create this interesting, original clothing. However that’s only in my dreamland.
I don’t really know how to sew. Back in 8th grade we had sewing class. I was the girl who sewed my finger. Completely shocked with the needle sticking thru beside my finger nail. Their machines had a pedal that you pressed against with your knee. And clearly I was not being careful when I was lining up the fabric to keep my leg away. It wasn’t painful, I still just find it quite amusing.
When I tell people I’d like to learn to sew so often they remember the wonderful seamstress my Mom is and how us 4 girls often wore lovely homemade + matching dresses. Unfortunately that’s not an inherited talent. My husband knows how to use our machine better than I can! The desire to be able to sew my own pillow covers, a fun skirt or even just mend without having to hand-stitch was re-sparked with this fabulous find. A vintage sewing organizer. Oh the things that inspire creativity.
