It was a party for the kids. A Valentine’s brunch party to start off the weekend. They filled our home with so much cuteness and playful noise! Happy babies and happy kids. There are incredible “big” people in their lives, so thoughtful and wonderful to be around. I really enjoy to entertain, not because I feel that I am any great host. These photos don’t show the beautiful, wonderful people that came but it really is the guests that made it a fabulous party!

What’s Your Language?

I wish I could slow down 2012 a bit. Here we are already less than a week from Valentine’s Day. At least this year, in the month of love, we do get a bonus day.

A link on a blog led to a link to another blog to a link to a website…..bringing me to 5 Love Languages. We were given the book, How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate, as a wedding gift. Expressing and showing love. In the language that each understands. Filling love tanks. And it’s not just a concept that applies to couples. But on their website they have a challenge starting on Valentine’s Day. To love your spouse according to their love language for 5 weeks. Who needs chocolates, roses, a card…unless receiving gifts of course is the language you understand. If you’re up for the challenge ~ it takes a few minutes to determine your love language and you can enjoy having your love tank filled to the brim! I think it’s a neat idea. To be really giving what someone needs.

January Photo Adventure

A couple weeks back while these two stayed with us, we headed off on a photo adventure. Not sure where we’d end up but headed to the hills nearby. Well above zero and not having snow, it was splendid to be out in the sunshine. Mesmerized by the wind blowing the golden grasses, breathing in the quietness, enjoying the vast expanse of our prairie scenery, hearing giggles of these sweet kids running and watching the things that attracted their attention for even a moment. A good memory of our time together.

Now that images from their session have been given out as gifts to their families, I will share a few with you all. I love the idea of giving photographs for gifts. At any occasion. It’s special and meaningful. These two are such natural parents. Of one of the cutest baby girls! I’m glad we’re already talking about and planning for the next photo session. When the wind chill is softened and the air is warm! To spend more time with their happy little family will not be difficult. I hope you’re having a wonderful time over the holidays! We woke up to the ground covered with the white stuff like a thick blanket. And it continued to fall all day. Really it is quite pretty, and magical the way snowflakes twinkle, but that was too quick a season change for me. Winter arrived. Abruptly. Knowing there was a chance of flurries in the forecast we were still planning to shoot some family portraits while the Duncan’s were in town visiting. Thinking there might be a few snowflakes in the air and a light covering of snow. Well, there ended up being a lot of snow for the first snow and a harsh, cold wind. With their sweet personalities and beautiful smiles they braved the weather. Thanks for making time on your busy weekend to have me photograph your lovely family, cozied up by the snowy evergreens.

Baby Gyana 3 MONTHS

She’s growing, she’s smiling, she’s a happy baby girl! It’s adorable to hear her coo away. She keeps conversation going! All her happy noises + big smiles. We’re lucky to live close to enjoy all her sweetness. Here she is, 3 months old. A beautiful little gem and I won’t tell how good she sleeps because too many mamas might be jealous!

Our Day

Today is one of the most special days of the year. I know it always will be. November 2nd. This year being our fourth anniversary. I am filled with love and gratitude. Having married in the Rockies, we have always celebrated our anniversary with a weekend away to the mountains. Well prairie living has brought that tradition to an end. But it won’t hold us back from celebrating our love. It’s been quite the incredible journey the past four years, I’m extremely grateful for the love, devotion and wisdom of my amazing husband. To have you in my life, by my side…making me a better person, each day better and life better. Thank you for being who you are!

Mini Pumpkins

The day I finally got around to looking for a perfect pumpkin (or a few!) to carve a fun creation into, they were all sold out. No jack-o-lantern here. Mini pumpkins it is. For this year. I’m hoping we can grow pumpkins next summer in our freshly worked garden spot. Have a fun, safe Halloween ~ and enjoy some sweet treats!

Hard to believe it’s already a year ago I photographed them as a family of 3. A year ago to the day. I’ll be glad if it’s a Thanksgiving Monday tradition we keep. This year there’s another love in their life. Adorable little baby Sawyer. At just a month old. Congrats again Mike + Danielle! He is surrounded by kind, loving hearts and hands. I won’t hold you to adding another into your family portraits each year but your babies sure are cute!! Parker started off telling me just one picture. At the end I asked how many more photos he wanted and he held up both palms with all fingers and both thumbs sticking out. Thanks for all the laughs little buddy!
