What does BEAUTI mean to you?

beau-ty (n.pl.) Any of those attributes of form, sound, color, character, behavior, achievement, etc., which give pleasure and gratification to the senses or to the mind. Something excellent of its kind.

BEAUTI is more than physical attractiveness. BEAUTI surrounds us in many forms.

Johnson family

We started out talking about a springtime family shoot, then it was a summer one.  And well, the summer was busy and we were into fall.  Laurie was not keen for fall so we said for sure it had to happen next spring when things were fresh + green again.  Then one day she excitedly called.  Very inspired at the thought of a cozy fall family session.  Sharing her ideas of a warm meal served up at their picnic table by the lake and cuddling in a blanket by a bonfire.  She had already purchased enamel dinnerware and was planning the menu and their outfits.  There was so much planning and effort that went into creating a fun fall shoot.  I loved the warm, fall atmosphere.  It was the cozy, loving spirit of their family that gives these photos the most wonderful feel.  Such a wonderful, happy family to be with!  I’m so glad for my part in capturing these images for your family!!

We started off with their very neat looking chicken named Mr. Fuzzy then out to the pasture and they have the most friendly cows!

Living on a farm and having an abundant garden this was a delicious, home grown meal!  Even the milk.  And of course the beef.  The Saskatchewan touch with the saskatoon crisp in a jar for each one topped it all off.

Aron + Kaitlin | Engagement

Key to my heart.  What a fitting theme for their wedding next summer.  These two are smitten, so happily in love with one another and have definitely made their way into each other’s heart.  Holding that key as tightly as they can.  They embraced the chilly and windy weather and more so one another.  It was difficult to even find shelter from the wind but these two laughed and loved and cuddled in.  Allowing for the most authentic, special moments.  The mugs of hot chocolate while snuggled in a beautiful handmade quilt was the perfect way to finish their session.  Just what you want to do on a day like that, be cozy with the one you love!

I am really looking forward to your wedding day, you two are a joy to be with!!

It is always enjoyable to be with these two.  Not just because I’ve been friends with Danielle for ages but they are a perfect compliment to one another.  A beautiful couple, you feel their genuine love and happiness in being together.  There is great anticipation for a special day next month.  The day that will make them Mr + Mrs!  I can’t wait to be there to share in and capture what I know will be an amazing day!  For now here are some favorites from their engagement session in beautiful fall, prairie surroundings.

Howden reunion

At the end of August I photographed what was probably one of the greatest family reunions.  A great family and a great reunion.  The location was perfect for a big group and everything was planned out really well!  This is a family that knows how to have fun.  They had so many games + activities to keep every age amused.  Thank you so much for having me come to capture these memories for you all.  A huge thank you to my wonderful friend Amanda for coming to shoot with me!!  I know I can say for us both that we left feeling incredibly happy and inspired after spending this time with your family.

Summer Adventures

It’s hard to let a fun, beautiful summer be over.  Thankfully we’re having an incredible fall that is making the transition easier!  We took a few fun mini excursions this summer.  Explored some new places and they were all relatively close to home.  There really are scenic, beautiful places surrounding us!

My birthday celebration continued at the end of June with a weekend away with all of my family at Waskesiu.  Something I really wanted and everyone made it happen!  We stayed at Elkridge Resort, played at the beach, hiked in the forest and celebrated with the most amazing and adorable shoe cupcakes created by my Mom + sisters!

Another small request of mine while we were all together…

It was a quick trip to Medora, North Dakota for a weekend with our wonderful American family.  It will be nice to go back when we have more time to explore this interesting area.  The Medora Musical was definitely a highlight!  The badlands as the stunning backdrop and a talented group on stage makes it a spectacular performance.  We wandered the streets of historic, western Medora town lined with rustic buildings and gift shops the next day.

I was told by several people that Castle Butte needed to be on our list of places to explore around here.  One evening a few of us hiked up just in time to enjoy a gorgeous sunset.  A landmark used for navigation.  It really is amazing!
