beau-ty (n.pl.) Any of those attributes of form, sound, color, character, behavior, achievement, etc., which give pleasure and gratification to the senses or to the mind. Something excellent of its kind.

Renee | Maternity

From the first time I went up into our barn and the way the light filters thru the old barn wood, it’s been a place I’ve wanted to shoot in.  Renee is a real sweetheart and was great to photograph.  Becoming a parent in a few months, it was fun to capture this stage of her pregnancy.   I enjoyed our afternoon together so much just before the holidays.

Puerto Rico

We had a really wonderful vacation in Puerto Rico.  Time away, celebrating our 5 year anniversary and exploring a new place.  With Hurricane Sandy about to hit we were very grateful to make it thru Newark, just a day before they shut down the airport .  We easily could have spent longer and there was a lot we didn’t have time to see on the main island of Puerto Rico.  It was great to go before the busyness of tourist season and the weather was amazing.  If you like heat!

There is nothing like stepping out of the airport into the hot, tropical air.  We couldn’t wait to get our toes in the sand and hear the waves crashing on the shore.  Old San Juan city is really neat.  A walled city with colorful buildings and blue cobblestone streets.

Following the advice of my cousin we spent half of our time on the stunning, quiet island of Vieques and exploring every bit of it we could.  Everyday as we meandered the very narrow paved roads we discovered something new + interesting on this small island.  We stayed in the cutest cabanita.  Ate our meals outdoors and picnic lunches on the beach.  Most often had a beach to ourselves.  Enjoyed the underwater world with a snorkel, mask and fins.  Went to the best restaurant on the island for an amazing 4 course dinner on our anniversary.  A highlight of the trip was kayaking in the bio-bay leaving a trail of light as we moved thru the darkness.  It is incredibly fascinating.

All over the island horses just freely roam

Playa Negra – Black Sand Beach

We ended our vacation with a few days on the eastern side of Puerto Rico by the rainforest

We loved spending a morning in El Yunque rainforest and our visit was complete with a tropical downpour on our hike!

Olsen family

We really enjoyed our time on the weekend with this wonderful family.  Seeing where they have settled into back in Canada and less travel involved than the last time we stayed with them.  A drastic change in temperature, the scenery and many other things.  But the visit was wonderful and these cute, sweet kids made us smile the whole time.  The light was quickly fading with the overcast day but it didn’t take long to get rosy cheeks + noses anyhow.  I’m glad for some who brave the cold weather because it really is a beautiful season.  And with a family like this, a pretty little winter session is a fun change.

Mike + Danielle | Regina, Sk Wedding

I’m excited to share more photos from Mike + Danielle’s beautiful wedding day!  It was really special to be a part of their intimate celebration.  To witness a friend of many years marry her best friend with a small group of their closest family + friends surrounding them.  Being asked to photograph their day and then reminded by this sweet bride that I was there not only as their photographer but a guest, I truly felt honored!

There was snow in the forecast but heavy snow falling the entire day wasn’t exactly expected.  There was a lot of snow in a short amount of time.  They braved the elements as long as they could.  Making for magical, snowy photographs and then we headed in for shelter from the chilly wind + snow.  I love how each wedding day is so unique and even the weather adds to that and is memorable.

Congratulations Mike + Danielle (Mr + Mrs!) and thank you again for including us!  It really was a gorgeous, wonderful day!

So many gorgeous, unique details!

These are lucky little boys to have you two for parents!!  Very cute to see their excitement for this special day!

It was a lovely reception at the Copper Kettle
