Littlejohn Family

I knew this would be a session filled with smiles, laughter and an abundance of love.  One of the most genuinely sweet and loving families.  You can feel it in these photos and that is just the way they always are.  Effortless love that just pours out in actions, affection and words.  It was also one of the hotter days we’ve had this summer but they did wonderful and the kids were amazing.  There’s lots of trees on their farm so it was great we could find some shaded spots.

I am very, very glad our paths crossed seven years ago.  Each visit with this beautiful woman is uplifting and there’s always laughs over something crazy and funny.  Such a positive, grateful outlook on life.  An amazing, hardworking guy by her side who adores his wife and children.  I am so happy for you dear friends.  It was wonderful to capture your growing, happy family.  And including one of the children’s Grammas and auntie in some photos was perfect too.  We must spend more time together soon!

Also check out Rumors N’ Gossip ~ and a treatment at what she calls her “hillbilly” spa is always great!!

Doug + Joan

A fun, happy couple makes for a fun, happy session!  One that left me very inspired.  So special to capture this wonderful couple that I have known all my life and greatly appreciate.  It is exciting to capture young love but there is something so neat to witness genuine love that has been proven thru many years together and what life has brought in those years.  It is beautiful.  The bond stronger and the love deeper.

A dream of Doug’s has become reality recently with getting his pilot’s license again and an airplane!  Perfect for a couple that have enjoyed many interesting world travels and now loving to hop in their plane any chance they get.  Then we headed out to the farm, they very much have a heart for the prairies.  Thanks for your enthusiasm!  It was an incredible evening because of all that you put into making it that way!  Your love and care for each other and others around you is so real, it is always delightful to spend time with you both!

Joan brought along her amazing homemade buns for a little picnic

and this colorful, handstitched quilt was made by Doug’s grandmother…so beautiful!  Love this photo of Joan in her apron too!

To Celebrate

When it’s a birthday that marks the start of a new decade, I had ideas of how it needed to be celebrated.  Although it wasn’t Paris, Italy or an island in the Caribbean.  And waking up in Minot may not have been my favorite idea.  We were out of the country like I said I wanted to be.  And it was the start of our roadtrip to Minneapolis.  To beautiful lake country and the City of Lakes.  Time away, with just my husband, no real schedule, new places to explore, a bit of shopping and making new friends.  We went downtown Minneapolis for a celebration dinner (we highly recommend Crave!).  Driving along the riverfront, there are an incredible number of bridges with a fascinating variety of designs crossing the Mississippi River.  More bridges are across the Mississippi River there than any other river community.  I really loved the parts of the city we were able to see.  I kept thinking as we drove past fabulous old buildings it would be such a fun urban setting for a photo session!  Next time.

Had to capture the sky as we drove along on my birthday

Jamestown, home of another favorite antique shop!

Salem Sue, the world’s largest Holstein cow – 38′ high, 50′ long and 12,000 pounds

North Dakota badlands, amazing scenery and definitely a spot to explore more another time!
