*Dalys Rayne* Newborn

I loved how my friend shared the news of their little girl’s birth…”the arrival of our very own little princess!!”  And that she is.  The princess of their home and hearts.  The fourth baby, the only girl.  Her brothers are so happy with her, all wanting to have their turn to hold her.  And then they’re off playing bucking bulls or motorbikes again.  Her life will never be dull!  I had a great visit, thank you for everything…here she is, just 3 and 4 days old.  A little princess.  So perfect.  And all for their very own.

*Cody + Laura* Wedding

Since shooting Cody + Laura’s engagement photos in the spring, I have been excited for their wedding day.  These two are fun, easy going and full of love for one another.  We started off at Krysalis Salon then to Laura’s parents home for more prep shots and they have a beautiful backyard.  Laura looked amazing in her wedding dress.  Like it was made just for her.  Her feather hairpiece a gorgeous, final touch.

Their wedding was at Lakeside Greens Country Club in Chestermere.  A wonderful, simple ceremony committing their love + lives to one another.  Cody’s cute little nephew did so great pulling their sweet flowergirl into the ceremony in a flower-filled wagon…and he loved being photographed!  We knew there was a storm coming but just as we arrived to the other side of the lake with the bridal party it started to lightly rain.  Laura likes rain and wanted to get some shots with umbrellas, which we did quickly, but just as we jumped back into our vehicles there was a downpour!  Thanks to an incredible bride + groom, the weather couldn’t keep you from radiating the love and happiness you felt.  It was great to meet your families, thank you to all of you for being so amazing to work with!  Congratulations and best wishes Cody + Laura!

*Troy + Renee, Tiffany, Tyya and Taylor*

We have tried a few times now to be in the same place on the same weekend.  I am so glad it worked out at the end of August to have a camping weekend together, including a family photo session.  Finishing up just in time for a delicious BBQ dinner around the campfire.  I had been looking forward to this for months.  Thank you for asking me and trusting me to capture your family, I feel honored.  Always loving every chance to visit your family, we are glad you are back in Canada…not that we didn’t enjoy visiting you on the island but hopefully we will be together more often!  Not many families or couples have the love and connection of yours, we appreciate each of you for who you are and you all mean so much to us.  Big, big hugs…enjoy your photos!!

*An Inspiring Treasure*

Sometimes falling asleep at nite, it’s the next day’s to-do list or how I can live the next day better than today that runs thru my mind.  On a few occasions tho I have envisioned a runway.  A fashion runway.  And me sitting there front row.  Pieces I can’t recall ever seeing before, like I’ve created them right there in my semi-asleep state.  And the dreams go from there with me being able to create this interesting, original clothing.  However that’s only in my dreamland.

I don’t really know how to sew.  Back in 8th grade we had sewing class.  I was the girl who sewed my finger.  Completely shocked with the needle sticking thru beside my finger nail.  Their machines had a pedal that you pressed against with your knee.  And clearly I was not being careful when I was lining up the fabric to keep my leg away.  It wasn’t painful, I still just find it quite amusing.

When I tell people I’d like to learn to sew so often they remember the wonderful seamstress my Mom is and how us 4 girls often wore lovely homemade + matching dresses.  Unfortunately that’s not an inherited talent.  My husband knows how to use our machine better than I can!  The desire to be able to sew my own pillow covers, a fun skirt or even just mend without having to hand-stitch was re-sparked with this fabulous find.  A vintage sewing organizer.  Oh the things that inspire creativity.

5 September 2010 - 8:47 pm

Daysha - hmm, my dreamland has a runway too….just not with clothes! big planes and big hot beaches at the end! oh, the beauty of dream lands! and i hope you do learn to sew…. that will save Kent and I a lot of stress the night before conv, or wherever else! ha
