When researching for our trip I really had my heart set on a jeep safari in Yala National Park. There is something really special and amazing to see wild animals in their natural habitat. We saw many interesting birds, lots of water buffalo and spotted deer, elephants, mongoose, land monitors, monkeys, wild boars and the highlight was a leopard sleeping in a tree then getting up to stretch and moving across to another tree.
Can you spot the leopard in the tree?!
Sri Lanka was majorly impacted with devastation by the 2004 tsunami, there were many lives taken here at the Yala beach. It was incredible to hear the animals went to higher ground and were safe.
Headed along the gorgeous coastline to Mirissa Beach. It was Independence Day and the following day was the full moon which is also a public holiday.
An exceptionally good traditional Sri Lankan rice + curry lunch, “made by Mama” as their restaurant boasts.
A beautiful, detailed sand art design that just happens naturally. Very amazing!
Last sunset before heading off to the airport. Thanks for coming on a journey to Sri Lanka thru my photos!
