Even when the destination is 2200 kms away there is something that feels so great about getting in the car and starting the journey! For us anyhow, I know not everyone enjoys a long roadtrip. We love them!! Especially driving thru the mountains, choosing roads we have never been on before, stopping to explore along the way, visiting relatives and friends and soaking in all the beautiful scenery. We knew our general timeline but for the most part it was ‘where the wind blew us’. We were glad we were spontaneous because it brought opportunities that we wouldn’t have had if our days were too scheduled ahead of time. It was our style of adventure. Come along for the highlights of our time on the westcoast and pretty places between here and there!
We crossed over to Nanaimo then went to stay with friends at a beautiful property on Sproat Lake. The mornings were amazingly peaceful!
We spent a day exploring Ucluelet and Tofino. The locals said we were really lucky to get hot weather and the surfers didn’t even need booties that day.
We stopped numerous times to hike, breath in the fresh rainforest air and were amazed by the size of the trees. The Cathedral Grove really is a forest of giant trees including the largest tree in the park which is a Douglas Fir standing 76m high and 9m around. It’s humongous!
Victoria is such a beautiful city to spend time in!
One of our favorite parts was from Whistler to Lillooet. Someday we hope to spend longer driving thru this area. It’s rugged and incredibly breathtaking.
Spending a few days in the Okanagan with cousins was a blast! They took us on an evening hike, morning run, to yoga and on a winery tour.
The Rocky Mountains never disappoint!
