I was glad of their enthusiasm for this Kelvington extended family session. The weather was cooler than usual and with multiple shoots that day, I really hoped when the rainy morning was over that the rain was definitely over for the day. I knew this family when I was young and we’d spend time around Kelvington visiting my grandparents and relatives. That was many years ago and their family has grown with marriages and children so it was really nice to get reacquainted and spend time on their farms. Being able to photograph my clients on their home property is always preferred as it’s their life, their story and where they seem to be most comfortable. It’s a good thing to feel at home when you are at home and it shows in the photographs.
Along with the wonderful couples and children, were many animals. Well mannered horses including a new colt, the cutest pet pigs and a whole herd of friendly cattle. I didn’t even try to count the number of heartbeats in front of my camera that day! The kids all chose an interest of theirs for the individual photos which meant starting off at the Kelvington swimming pool with one son that works there as a lifeguard and mostly included horses. Then we headed over to a pasture of yearlings to meet the rest of their family. I certainly appreciate people that embrace having me capture their family time even if the weather is not ideal and have a sense of humor to make the time together enjoyable! Thank you all for your kindness, I had a great day photographing around Kelvington!
