Matt + Melissa | Oungre Park Wedding

Matt + Melissa’s Oungre Park wedding truly was a day filled with happiness and love!! From the first time I photographed them together it was easy to see how much they connected to and care about one another. Then taking their engagement photos at Oungre Park on the hottest day of last summer, there was much excitement to officially become husband and wife. As well as a family! Their wedding ceremony was very personalized and touching as Melissa started off reading a letter to Matt’s daughters. Finding her life partner includes a wonderful bonus of two beautiful girls and it’s sweet to see the way they adore their stepmom. With so much love shown to them too!

There was the perfect getting ready scenario with Melissa getting ready with the ladies and flower children at her Mom’s house and Matt with the groomsmen at the bride’s brother’s house which are on the same farm. An initial idea of a peacock wedding cake sparked the overall theme of their wedding day. Peacock feathers in the handmade bouquets, bridesmaid dresses, a hairpiece for the bride and the little girls couldn’t wait to get into their peacock-colored, poofy dresses. They floated around the rest of the day! It was cute to watch their reaction as the bride put on her beautiful, lace dress. On a hot, sunny 33 degrees Celsius summer day, the guys were happy that they chose to wear shorts and white shirts! Everyone did really well as it was a very hot day!! It was great that the day was planned with time between the dinner and program of their reception to head out for more photos around the park. Including the pups that are definitely part of their family too. Then headed back to celebrate and dance the evening away!

Matt + Melissa, we wish you years of happiness together. It was wonderful to capture your Oungre Park wedding and witness how happy and in love you two are! Congratulations on your marriage!!

Van Roon | Weyburn family photographer

This was a great summer session with a fun Weyburn family! I knew they wanted their photos this time near water but in a private location. A funny sidenote – prior to the shoot I was met at the door with a steak knife by the landowner at one of the locations I went to scout. If felt bad that my visit was startling and also didn’t realize I looked so scary! Anyhow it ended up that it was too muddy to get in to that spot and this couple found the perfect location for their family photos. It was a quiet, lush oasis!! Since the photoshoot was just after a rain the scenery was fresh and vibrant. Stunning surroundings to explore, be goofy and have fun on a gorgeous summer evening. These handsome boys are energetic and their smiles + laughter were adorable! It was fun to capture these memories early in the summer!!

Pink Peonies | From Our Backyard

There’s a favorite time of year in our backyard for me. When the peonies are blooming! There’s something about the pop of color of the pink peonies that brightens up our yard. It’s amazing how much these plants grow in a year from shoots coming out of the ground to the large bush they become as the blossoms start to form. I’m always excited to watch the progression! We have this beautiful pink variety and a white one with hints of pink.

For as hyped up as I get over my peonies, this year however was a letdown. It was a tough growing season!! Watering doesn’t seem to have the same effect as rain and it was so dry. There were about 5 nice blooms and within a day the strong winds nearly demolished them before I got to photograph them (besides on my phone). Last year’s peonies were abundant and lasted nicely. Even well enough to make a bouquet for my Mom. Most of these photos were taken on medium format film. Thanks to Canadian Film Lab for the scans!

Poseidonion Grand Hotel Wedding | Spetses, Greece

I’m taking you back to Greece with another beautiful wedding shoot I have to share! An elegant event at the Poseidonion Grand Hotel on Spetses Island. The last one to be posted here…until the next trip to Greece! For the duration of the wedding photography workshop that I attended there, we stayed at this gorgeous, historic hotel. It certainly was a luxurious, 5-star experience!! This hotel is an exceptional choice for celebrating a wedding! With plenty of unique, beautiful locations in and around the hotel along with a stunning view of the Mediterranean Sea. Having a horse and carriage was perfectly suited to this quaint island that doesn’t have any cars. This shoot is also proof of the magical portraits that happen during golden hour and the light in Greece is stunning! Along with this great looking, loving couple. It all came together beautifully!!

Spring Flowers | End of the Season

Typically on the first day of spring I like to share a seasonal post. However this time I’m sharing at the end of the season. Spring is an exciting season and seeing the new growth makes me feel in awe of nature everyday! It’s okay to say farewell to spring when this also marks the beginning of my favorite season of the year. 2019 is flying by and I want to enjoy every single day of the summer season to the fullest. Here are some beautiful spring blossoms and prairie crocuses. We are lucky to have a pasture with native grasses across the road from where we live so each spring pretty little crocuses add some color to the golden landscape. Ah spring, a season that brings so much cheer after winter!!
