Carrying on with my trip to Europe, I flew from Prague to Athens, Greece. With my suitcase that I picked up from the overflowing Lost Luggage room as I caught my departing flight. So that was a relief! Greece has been on my bucket list for a while so it was great to see some of this interesting country and see a few of the islands. Of course with many souvlaki and gyros along the way!
The reason for my solo trip to Europe was to attend a wedding film photography workshop. After arriving to Athens, I had a little time with a fellow photographer to wander around Piraeus by the harbour and have a delicious Greek meal. Then the following day we took a Flying Dolphin ferry with others attending the workshop to the gorgeous island of Spetses. We made quick port stops at two islands along the way that I’d love to go back and explore someday. The beautiful, blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea and the colors of the buildings on the islands were picturesque. As we approached our home for the week you could already sense it’s charm and elegance. It was a pleasant surprise that the weather was in the mid-20’s and above throughout my visit.
Enjoy these sights of Piraeus and Spetses Island, along with views of others islands from the boat, as well as time exploring in Athens. There will be a part 2 to come!
A quick stop at the island of Hydra. It looks so pretty!
Spetses is a quaint, small island. We stayed at the historic Poseidonion Grand Hotel which is a 5 star experience in every way!!! It’s luxurious!
Heading back to Athens. Stopping in again at the islands that have me eager for another trip to Greece!
I got to spend an evening in Athens with two talented photographers that had both previously travelled to Greece so I had the best tour guides! First we wandered the tiny alleys of a cute neighbourhood near Acropolis then went to see the historic site. It was late in the day and we were snapping photos as we could with a security guard shooing us back down so they could close. The views of Athens were amazing! Thinking of the history that has taken place here is fascinating!!
